Dogs v. goats

While writing the previous post, I was reminded of another example of collapsing animals. In this video, there are 'fainting goats':

They may look the same as the narcoleptic dogs initially - both responses are triggered by excitement - but this is a completely different phenomenon from narcolepsy with cataplexy. Narcolepsy is a sleep disorder with characteristic abnormalities in sleep, such as a faster entry into REM sleep. The problem with myotonic goats is purely neuromuscular. In addition, the goats have a temporary increase in muscle tone, whereas the dogs lose their muscle tone, and they both result in the animals collapsing for obvious reasons. (However, adult myotonic goats often are able to avoid collapsing, and instead run with stiff legs.)
